State Senator Angela Paxton
Senator Angela Paxton has proudly represented Senate District 8 in the Texas Senate since 2019. A lifelong educator and the first elected to the Texas Senate in more than 20 years, Senator Paxton brings the heart of a teacher, mother, and grandmother to her strong conservative leadership in the Texas Capitol.
Today, she serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Economic Development, where she is helping keep Texas the nation’s economic powerhouse. She also serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Religious Liberty, Vice Chair of the State Affairs Committee, and on the Senate committees for Finance, Education, Higher Education, Local Government, and Nominations. Her leadership is grounded in unwavering faith, principled conservatism, and a fierce commitment to protecting children and families.
Senator Paxton is nationally recognized for championing groundbreaking legislation focused on safeguarding children. She has authored and passed landmark measures including:
Trey’s Law, which restores the voices of victims of sexual abuse through prohibiting NDAs and which is now being carried by US Senator Ted Cruz to become federal law;
Prohibiting sexually explicit materials in school libraries; and
Requiring age verification for online pornography websites. That law went all the way to the US Supreme Court, was upheld, and has since inspired similar legislation to protect children across the country.
